Graphics are used to improve the appearance of a website and increase its attractiveness. Images are also used to emphasize a text or the message transmitted by a web page. 

The sizes of the graphic files must be reduced but without affecting their quality, in order to reduce their loading time.

To reduce the loading time of graphic files, their attributes ‘HEIGHT and WIDTH’ have to be adjusted properly. In this case, the browser knows how much space is attached to each image and starts loading the text immediately, in parallel with the loading of the  image and the readers will be able to start reading the text without waiting for the loading for a long time. If these options are not used wisly, the browser will first calculate the dimensions of the image compared to the other elements and then start the actual loading of the respective image.

The most used graphic files and which are supported by all web browsers are:

GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) – for graphics and images with a lower resolution and JPEG (JPG) – for photographic images or with a variety of color tones,

Choosing the right format is important for the quality and clarity of the image used as well as for keeping the size of the graphic file small.

The logo is another important graphic feature in the development of a website. It may be representaed by a simple  name, a symbol or a registered trademark of a company or organization. A well-chosen image has a much stronger impact than words. The logo is used to stimulate the visual memory of the audience. A logo must be simple, unique and easily recognizable and should be placed on each web page of your website.

When choosing a background for a webpage there are things we need to consider:

 – the color of the background must not interfere with the color of the text;

– contrasting colors are used for the text and background, which allow easy reading of the content;

-background images must be small GIF or JPEG files to reduce page load time

-the image used for the background must be in accordance, from a chromatic point of view, with the appearance of the web page and the rest of the images

-it is not recommended to use animated images for the background.

The text information we use to populate a web page it must convey clear and easy to understand ideas. The typography should repsct the basic rules of text editing, such as headings, subheadings and paragraphs. In this way, the web browsers will find the information published on your website as being relevant.
